It is an accurate history whether you like it or not. FACT: Lakeview is the Chicago neighborhood with the most 4+1 Mid-Century (1960s), Mid-Rise Apartment Buildings. Try using Google Maps STREET VIEWS to see some of the streets in Lakeview. Your elitist attitude only works when you have the facts. There are ways to create affordable housing without resorting to 4+1s. And one factual correction: there are only three 4+1s in Hyde Park-Kenwood. 4900 block of Dorchester, 5400 block of Harper, and 5400 block of Everett. That's it - there are no more. Cheap and plain with slider windows and tacked-on decoration (if any) were shoehorned into areas with elegant architecture and quality housing. Few if any wood-frame worker cottages fell to make way for these, rather it was fine, old homes and smaller apartment buildings.L.D.
