I never heard what brewery they came to work for. There was a large number of children creating many Lehmann families in Belleville. Management never wanted stag to be successful, It was very unusual in the days leading up to the closing they made us clean all the coolers and areas with caustic and tsp, all going down the drains. In the 6 years i worked there it wasnt done like that, it was a scam!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2698674352470153088.post-37911153887318146482020-04-04T12:23:13.030-05:002020-04-04T12:23:13.030-05:00Well, it is close. In Chicago, a new 'brewpub' called Sieben's River North (on W. Ontario St.) had opened in September 1987. And another brewpub opened in April 1988 at 1800 N. Clybourn St.. I'm pretty certain you know what that one was.
My last independent data processing consulting contract was in June 1988 in Springfield, IL. I was put up in a hotel from Sunday night to Thursday, and motored back to Chicago on weekends. I found a general store on south 6th St. in Springfield which looked like it had not been renovated since the 1930s. It had cases of Stag beer from the Belleville plant in 12-oz. returnable bottles. I had discovered craft beer by this time, but felt I had to buy this. I would consume it, but I felt my dad would also. I would query if he thought it tasted like Old Style.Steve D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12337124618723219550noreply@blogger.com
