Lost Towns of Illinois - Womac, IIllinois

Womac was in Macoupin County just five miles east of Carlinville, Illinois. Founded in 1870 and named in 1876, it was a station stop on the Chicago and North Western Railroad.
The community was named for John J. Womac (born in 1820), a shop keeper and local landowner. The Womac post office was established in 1888 and remained in operation until 1910 when it closed.
